You see Depravity isn’t something that is only external from us — something that we are immune from — it is something that plagues US — it is who WE are on this side of Christ coming back and our obtaining resurrected bodies. So when we are talking about depravity today — we are not only talking about the evil that makes the headlines — we are talking about our own — mine and yours — our tendency toward evil. This is a principle that Christians really universally agree on — let me see if I can explain.

This doctrine — just as we saw when we looked at God’s sovereignty and His holiness — ought to lead us to humility and worship — not pride - or presumptuousness — complacency— and laziness. The fact is — when this doctrine is introduced in Scripture - in far more places than you might think by the way - when this doctrine is taught it is for the purpose of showing us how great the grace is that saved us — it is taught to move us to the correct response of worship - to live a life worthy of the Gospel in humility.

Holiness - this is our second word in our series “10 words every Christian should know” - and it is a big one - and difficult to grasp - you see when we talk about holiness - or the holiness of God - we are talking about how God is “separate” how he is “other” - see on the one hand we all say, “yes we know that God is separate and different that when we are - we are not Gods - He is. But to grasp what the Bible means when it talks about holiness goes much further
